DSL/Linux/Anypoint/Physics questions

Actually I don't have any physics questions, but I have lots of questions arranged in no particular order:

I have an Anypoint/HomePNA Network with 1 computer and growing (will probably have 3 wintels, an iMac, and a linux machine). I'm hoping I'll be able to use the linux machine as a gateway/sharer for the rest of the computers on the network. How do I get the linux machine on the network? I'm assuming it goes something like installing both an Anypoint adapter and an NIC on one of the wintel's and and then using a switch with the wintel and the linux on it, as well as the soon to come DSL modem, or maybe that's nothing like what you'll tell me but hey I gave it a shot.

A seperate but related question: Ameritech will allow me to perform a self-install where they give me a bunch of low-pass filters to put in between all my telephone devices and the walls they are plugged into. Will this disable or impede the Anypoint/HomePNA network? I have an Anypoint network because there are no logical places to run CAT5 and it's just as fast as 10BaseT.

Thanks in advance.

u can use Linux Mandrake 8.0, this linux comes with an internet sharing connection and a personal firewall that is easy to config. For the filters a believe u have to used in every analog devices that u r going to use with ur telephone lines, not in the dsl modem.

it's better to have SAME OS.

Otherwise, it's complicated. Need to take networking class to learn.

Sorry, I am not Microsoft Network Certified.
