DSL lagging problems (yes, evil problems)

I have Bellsouth DSL and all is well and good with it except that it constantly (every 5 minutes or so)seems to lag or (momentarily) freeze. Usually after about 30 seconds it will jump back to normal. Is this some type of configuration problem?

I have Alcatel speed touch enternet thingy.
(phoneline - dsl modem - ethernet card in computer)

I usually get about 1200 down, 150 up.

(SORRY!! double post and it doesnt allow me to delete 1)

Ask your tech support if you would get better results by specifying the IP address under Network - TCI/IP Properties, instead of letting your system deterimine it automatically. I know it helped when I had that problem. Your tech support should know the correct entry.

Hope that helps. 🙂

Alright, I went to bellsouth's interactive help thingy, and the helper took over my pc and changed the ip and sub net mask, but it won't get past the authorization stage unless I unchange everything.

I go back right now.
