Poor guy. He's probably been waiting to upgrade from 56K to DSL for like 2 years, and when he posts, everybody's telling him it costs too much and it'll drop all the time.

Well, ANY braodband is better than dial-up, and I'd pay a lot of $$$ before giving up my cable. There's no way I'm ever going back to dial-up while I'm alive!!! :D

DSL at 1.5m/384k for $49.95 with Earthlink.... I'm happy with the service, and I didn't get shut down like my bro did who has AT&T cable! hahaha

Yeah slower than cable but fewer outages!

How the heck do you know it'll be fewer outages? You've only had it for an hour. I know people with DSL, and although they don't get it ALL the time, they get them... probably as often as i get cable outages... maybe once every few months.

Accually I am Canceling my Cable. Charter Has been less than stellar about Customer service and when I called regarding the outage due to @home going under they said "we're unsure if you will be able to switch to pipeline." So I called And set-up my Hickory Tech DSL.

Seems abit quicker when surfing and when I went to the zone I saw alot more green than I ever did with my cable connection!

Haven't tried downloading from morpheus but I will try some downloads and see if it is better!

Can't be much worse-

I got @home in July (end of) and I have been down in the evening no fewer than 5 times. That doesn't include the outage last weekend due to the switch!

Also it tends to crawl at times of "heavy Usage"

I spend most of my time gaming and browsing so it is still pretty quick.

Will I lose some down load speed? Without a doubt I will never see that 500KB/s howere thoose had gotten few and far between. Overall this will be better for ME!! If I was downloading warez and mp3 at all hours then I might miss that high peak but I will be perfectly happy with Fast (as apposed to Blazing fast at times) If it is consistant!!

Pages seem to load quicker NO MORE SHARING!!!

I'm in the same boat as Sugadaddy.

My cable is $20.00US/mo for 3200 down/512 up.

Of course, if I wanted to be really cheap, I could get DSL for $13.50US/mo for 1200 down/320 up. :D

$50 USD per month for 1.5mb/down 128kb/up, SWBell DSL. NO Earthlink crap. SWB is my ISP. Per DSL reports (which I run about once every week) I get 140-150kb/s down and 130kb/s on a regular basis. When DLing from a fast server (Microsoft, for example) I always get 150 down. I've had DSL since March and I 've been down a total of 5 times. Only once was I down for more than 12 hours. I never get booted off, either. Although my router may have something to do with that....I've had the same IP since September. :D

I'm still paying about $50 a month Cdn. for DSL here can't even remember the last time it was down, maybe once this year for a few hours.
D/L from fast server often above 200KB/Sec.
Upload sucks, but I'm a lot more concerned with down than up.
Plus I got an email out of the blue last week saying 1 mth free, so I don't feel quite so gouged now.
SaskTel is the best phone company bar none. I could've had DSL in Nov 96.

621/217 according to dslreports...not stellar at all...but better than ANY 56k modem out there :)
