Dsl drops, then works, then drops.... ARGH

Recently I have been having an odd problem with my DSL connection (fyi I use verizon avenue, which you have to login to get your connection). It will work fine for a while, then at random times it will stop working. Then it will again randomly work for some time before stopping again. An odd thing is that if I have a download going it will continue, but webpages, AIM, or anything not already running will not work. It's not at any specific times that it works or doesn't work, seems totally random. I can logout and then back in to the service and it won't make a difference. The problem only started this past thursday. If anyone has any ideas or tips for me I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks a lot. ~Mike

Given that, I'd look into troubleshooting a DNS problem. If you're using dhcp, you might try manually configuring DNS servers on your pc, or even trying alternate servers. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips guys. I will look into the DNS, and I was actaully thinking of getting a router anyway so that gives me a good reason to get one now! Hopefully that may fix the problem. One more question though, how do I find the DNS addresses that I should use? Thanks again, Mike
