I am using AT&T DSL. Lately, it seems like I have to reset the modem and router when it hangs. I am running at 1.5MBPS. I reset the modem by unplugging it and it helps. Is there a better solution to this? Do I have a bad DSL modem?

Can you restore the connection by just resetting the modem? Or by just resetting the router? If you can get the connection back by just resetting one of the two then you'll have a better idea of what is causing the problem. If you aren't able to narrow it down that way, try connecting your computer directly to the modem for a while (with a software firewall enabled) and see if you still lose connectivity. If so, call your ISP and have them check your line and replace the modem if necessary.

Did you recently request any changes to the account? I think ATT may did it if you make any changes lately. Or sometimes they did something without telling you about it. This is standard procedure and I had it happened lots of times. Just need to call them until they get it fix. Lots of times ATT stated everything works at their end, but magically everything will wonderfully work after a few days after you call them and complain.
