DSL Conection Problem

I have a sppedstreem 5260 with a part number sticker that says 060-5262-006, and another sticker says extended reach version. The problem is the connection is intermitenly droped. Some times the modems lights go off and sometimes they don't, but the connection is lost. My barricade router can't reconect so I have to cycle the power of both of them in order to reconect. I have updated the routers firmware, but not the modems. I didn't know this was possible even. The ISP says everything looks good on our end and offers no explination to the problem. This exact problem happened to a friend of mine last fall and the ISP solution was to place somesort of speed cap on the dls line.

Anyways my question is, Is this connection dropping problem a known issue, and if it is or isn't does anybody have any ideas so that I don't have to cycle this stuff multiple times a day. Thanks.

I had the same problem with my DSL. Turned out the modem was defective. Might want try another one. Hope this helps.

my isp uses pppoe and i had the same problem untill i removed the enternet 300 driver in device manager and just used the routerpppoe.
