What kind of high speed internet does everyone have where they live? I heard a lot of crap about places in the states only having the option of Cable for residential, and that it's not practical to have DSL in their homes because of

1.)obscenely high degradation over small disances and
2.)even more obscenely high prices.

I can't hardly believe that.
What kind of speeds/prices can you get? Which do you prefer?
Here in N.S. we have cable for around $40 a month and ADSL for $45. I work for the Telecom company here that sells ADSL, so my choice is obvious. My regular speeds are 3.5 - 5 Mb/sec, and cable is usually lower because it's not dedicated.
