google has failed me. hehe.
anyone know what type of phone cables are needed for dsl modems? is it just standard telephone cables or does it use a special type? the one dsl cable I have that came with the modem is covered in such a way that I cannot see the pin colors going into the head.
I moved my computer into a different room of the apartment, only to discover too late that the phone line in the new room is bad. since my landlord doesn't have a landline himself, getting him to open up the first floor apartment so a verizon tech can check it out will be like pulling teeth, so I figure it'll just be easier to run a cable on the floor from the old room to the new room... so it's a question of whether or not I can drop by Walmart and just buy a 50 telephone cable or if I've got to find a speciality shop online.
(I could just go wifi, but I've had terrible luck with routers in this apartment... don't know what it is, but I've lived here for 2 years and have had 3 routers just up and fail on me, so I'm not really looking to waste any money on that. it's working well enough having my PC connect to the dsl modem directly and then using my desktop has a router for the other 3 boxes on the apartment)
