<< I've never seen any cable internet for less than 39.95 >>

I pay 29.99 a month for Road Runner in Tampa. Its regulerly 39.99, but they USF student discounts.

w00t, 25 dollars plus a 5 dollar modem rental here. Unfortunately, i have cruddy ass D/U-loads. Fortunately, my lines are clean.

<< well my friend in NJ pays $30 for Optimum Online
I wish there was such thing in NY

yes same here. 30$ for Optimum Online suscribers. thaT means you need to have a cable account with the premium chanels

I had DSL service with GTE/Verizon for a year and it was terrible. The down time equalled or exceeded the time it was "up." Their technical support people were absolute morons and customer "service" was abysmal.

I've had cable (@home) for a year now ($49/mo). It's not perfect but it's away better than Verizon's DSL. (I'll grant you, that wasn't a difficult status to achieve.) Nonetheless, based on my experience, I definitely recommend cable over Verizon DSL.

I got an e-mail from DirecTV that they are now offering DSL service in selected areas around the country. Has anyone else had any experience with this? I would so love to tell Comcast to fvck off.
