1.5 megabits for $19.95 is perfect for penny pinchers who are still using dialup.

3.0 megabits for $29.95 is perfect for power users.

The upload speed was increased for free as well.

Wonder if this is SBC way of trying to put the other DSL providers out of business.

PRESS RELEASE

The Best Deal in DSL Just Got Better

San Antonio, Texas, March 1, 2005

The most convenient way to order SBC Yahoo! DSL just became the cheapest.

For the next 31 days, new residential subscribers to SBC Yahoo! DSL Express service who order online through sbc.com or sbc.yahoo.com will receive 12 months of the popular high-speed Internet access service for only $19.95 a month. The price ?lower than any other similar offers by leading U.S. providers ? requires only a one-year term commitment and SBC local phone service.

it's SBC's way of trying to compete with cable until they get all the fiber optic lines down.

Holy crap!! SBC?? Where? Texas? They sure have come a long way. I had SBC DSL back in 1999; it was $50/mo and it sucked!!! IIRC, I got like 128KB/s download speeds...Once. It was half that most of the time.

Now I'm happy. QWest DSL. 1.5 down, 1.5 up. $45/mo.

NOPE: They changed their policy all you need is a local line no long disatnced required.

I wish I could get DSL, or cable, or anything that isn't shitty🙁

Which company owns the network up by you? I know that Verizon owns most of the county, but Sprint owns some parts of it.

Verizon is in the process of putting some DSLAMs in place around the county, I'm told... of course that won't help you if you live too far from the CO :-

You could consider a cellular internet connection, if you're within one of the cellular networks in the county :-\ I hear that Nextel just put up a new tower in the Somerset area...

Verizon DSL is 3Mbps/768Kbps for $29.99 ... I just put an order through... I'm sick of Optimum Online cable capping me over and over.

Now I can actually use what's allotted to me... what a concept.

Saw an ad a couple days ago for Bellsouth DSL for $9.95 for 6 months. Not sure what the speed was though, I would assume it's their light package which is 7xx (don't remember the exact speed)

We already have the SBC landline (cant get my wife to give it up)

Seriously considering dropping COX to get this deal. Cox may be pretty fast here, I just dont d/l enough to justify it.
