DSL - A whole new meaning to gaming

Well Verizon just started to offer DSL in my town and I happen to be the first to receive the service. It was turned on Monday and I fired up Counter Strike to see how it ran. With a latency between 20 and 50 it was wonderful. When ever I wanted to play this game when I had Dialup I was either stuck with bots or hosting a LAN party

My question is I am hosting a LAN party in 3 weeks and everyone wants to play CS on the internet. I was wondering how many people can I get on my DSL line with out to much lag. I did a bandwith test on my line and it adverages 743k down and 124k up.

Also where can I go to see about joining a CS clan?

I wouldn't reccomend more than 8 to keep things frosty, but it really depends on how good of a router you have. If you're using internet connection sharing to divide the connection, less players obviously than a well balanced router/hub.

As for clans, I'd reccomend just play. Find servers that work well for you ping wise, have a good balance, and don't ban you for being good. You're bound to run into a clan or two and you'll see if they are chumps or not, which is not obvious always from websites, naturally.

I just picked up a copy of UT I am going to give it a try tonight

I am using a Linksys 1 port router with a linksys 16 port switch.
