Dscaler is the greatest program ever!!

If any of you have a tv-tuner card, you should check out dscaler. It gives you a progressive-scan image, and displays at higher resoultion than most of the standard software (i.e. ati's mmc).

If any of you know of any other great tv-tuner software, post it here 🙂

I use iuvcr for recording, but I've heard that there are better programs out there.

Nice program, but its DAMN cpu hungry... My processor runs at 100% constantly while using it...

Another alternative is FlyDS. Good picture quality and not much CPU Usage.

Yeah but flyds requires drivers, and it's not free (30 day trial).

If I had decent ATI drivers for my card (all they have is beta ones for xp) then I would give it a try. I would never install a beta driver on my system.

I've never had a problem with beta drivers for my video card.

ditto, using the latest catalysts on my box, no problems

i'm sure they're fine for alot of people, but the problem is that they have not been properly tested. there are enough problems with drivers that are fully whql certified as it is. i guess i'm more bitter about the latest ati mmc than anything else. i figure i might as well just stick with dscaler since ati can't even make their own card capture at 640x480 (they only allow 640x240 in mmc).

by the way, if dscaler is using so much cpu, try turning off the "judderterminator" feature. i run with "greedy 2-frame" deinterlace mode at max. resolution and it takes ~4% cpu on my athlon xp 2200+ 🙂

<edit: the filters can eat up cpu as well...all i use is the comb filter as i don't notice much difference with the others>

Yeah it does, but it doesn't even compare with the quality that DScaler puts out. I know because I have a TV2000XP Deluxe and I've tried both. The Dscaler picture really kicks the Winfast PVR's ass. Additionally, you can configure 1001 settings in DScaler to tweak your image quality.

On the downside, you can't record with Dscaler(not that I know of anyway), its GUI is less polished, and the sound quality I'm getting with Dscaler is noticably worse than what I get for Winfast PVR.
