DS3 Constant Reboot

Big problem .... sorta

Well, I got home today, and I turned on the computer ...

No go, it constantly reboots ...
I try removing the battery, and replacing it ...
But it constantly reboots again ...

Any clue what the problem is? It's a P965 DS3 and I've never had it do this

did you try different ram?? or if you have more than 1 stick try them 1 at a time

Reboot is happening BEFORE POST ... it's as if the overclock is too high, but I'm CMOS resetted.

I've seen same thing before due to RAM problem, do what ricehero said and try different RAM.

Apparently, I tried both memory separately ....
Still doesn't work ....

You said you removed your battery, but did you actually close your CMOS jumper? If not, try that while also trying to turn your pc on. Remove it, then give it a whirl.

Trying with the reset button .... ehh, does a 3-year warranty cover this ... then again, i removed the northbridge heatsink before and plotted down arctic silver .... but ... its been working for 6 months. And unlike my last motherboard, this one is just not powering up pass motherboard -> fans -> hard drive -> cd drives -> unpower -> motherboard etc.

After thinking about it, it sounds like your 12VDC four pin jobber might not be working. If you forget to attach it, this is the sort of beheavior that is exhibited. You might want to try a different PS.

the one that powers up the CPU huh ... the power supply is working perfectly though ....

With CMOS reset, try disconnecting anything, and everything that'd possibly let even the slightest amount of power in the board. (such as monitor cable, network cable, etc.) Take the battery out of the board, of course. Leave it like that for 10 hours and get back on it and set the system default at the first boot, then reboot.

I know it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but I fixed a similar symptom that way once before, so why not give it a shot.

Okay ... so right now ... how do i know if a) chipset is dead or b) cpu is dead ... on a DS3?

EDIT: If you had to choose one, I'd definately choose the motherboard. CPU's are hard to kill by comparison.
