dry battery vs. wet battery UPS's

what are the pros, cons of each? any website that speaks of their differences and which are best for different contexts?

generally wet battery refers to old style lead acid batteries, like what is in your car. very stable technology, but they have many cons, like requiring maintenance and stuff

dry batteries probably means newer technology like nickel metal hydrive or lithium ion. they probably have a lower capacity and higher cost, but don't require maintenance and are smaller/lighter, etc

how big of UPS are you talking about? giant ones for data centers? or small desktop type units?

capacity wise- 1KVA to 1.5KVA, looking for uptime of at least 2 hours for a typical desktop PC (PIV) with a cable modem. from what i've seen on the apc site, a 1.5KVA one would do it... dry cell.

Figure out what size you need........
Then double it.

(We use both, the wet work longer)
