Any Drupal guys here? I'm leaning toward using it for a site that, if all goes well, I'm going to use as a jump off point for finding venture capital to expand the site and build on the traffic I get at the base site, and potentially build myself a nice little vertical market, where I am THE provider to producers, distributors and consumers of my particular niche. I'm working on the business plan and website in tandem and I'm ready to dive in to site design.
I'm a long time Windows guy (VB/ASP/C#/.NET/MSSQL) all the way back to Win3.1 but don't know jack squat about PHP. I figure a highly extensible CMS/framework like Drupal is perfect since I can get a lot of the basics put together easily, and can ease myself into PHP by digging into the Drupal code to learn it, then if there's any heavy lifting to be done I can write some custom code.
I've been doing a lot of reading on the Drupal site, and thinking I might start developing using 7 since it sounds like there are major changes with the CCK from 6, and I'd rather not start out with the headache of upgrading data for a brand new site.
Any suggestions on learning best practices? Good books or 3rd party websites? Any and all suggestions are welcome.
