This suspect gives new meaning to the term "flight risk."

Police in Arizona have locked up a man who allegedly shot an airplane while it was parked in a Phoenix airport -- then fled police at breakneck speeds as he drove away from the crime scene.

At around 1:30 a.m. on May 29, officers patrolling near Deer Valley Airport heard gunfire and raced toward the sound of the shots.

"The officers observed a vehicle speed away from the area," Phoenix Police spokesman Steve Martos told AZCentral. "Officers obtained a license plate and attempted a traffic stop."

But the suspect -- later identified as 26-year-old Randon Reid -- didn't slow down.

Police eventually apprehended Reid in his home and recovered two guns believed to be used in the shooting. Investigators scoured the crime scene and found two shell casings on the ground and one bullet hole in the plane.

Reid has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence and felony flight, according to ABC 15.

The plane's owner, Stephen Ritland, didn't have any kind words for the suspect.

"He was trying to do damage to a perfectly good airplane," Ritland told the station.

"It's hard to have respect for people who do that. His mugshot doesn't strike you as that of a responsible, working citizen," Ritland added.

That said, Reid's mugshot has earned the admiration of web users, ranking first with 53 votes at the time of publication on Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's controversial "Mugshot of the Day" contest.

His mugshot doesn't strike you as that of a responsible, working citizen,

Looks like they took the mugshot just after he broke the sound barrier.
