BUTLER, Pa. - A woman who prosecutors say was drunk when she killed a man in a head-on collision must carry a photograph of the teacher in his coffin as part of her five years of probation, a judge ruled.

Jennifer Langston pleaded guilty in September to vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

Prosecutors said Langston was drunk and talking on a cell phone in 2002 when she crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck carrying Glenn Clark and his pregnant wife, Annette. He died, his wife remains in a coma and their son, born by Caesarean section five months after the crash, is being raised by relatives.

A judge sentenced Langston to 30 days in jail, plus house arrest and probation, and ordered her to carry a picture of Glenn Clark.

But when Clark's mother provided the photo of Clark in a casket, Langston, 27, objected. Her attorney said the "spirit of the agreement" was that the photo be of Clark when he was alive.

"This makes no sense to me. Requiring Jennifer to carry a picture like that defeats the whole purpose if the purpose is to look and remember," said Langston's attorney, Michael Sherman. "Who in their right mind will look at such a picture?"

Butler County Judge George Hancher ruled Tuesday that Langston would have to carry the coffin photo.

Clark's mother, Rosellen Moller, has been unapologetic.

"That's where she put him ? in a casket. That's what she did for him. I'd just shut my mouth if I was her," Moller said.

😀

Once in a while some of the punishment makes sense....still a tragedy. What'll they tell the child when he asks where his mommy is?

I'm surprised that the offender got so little jailtime for this. A coffin is a great pic, though I'm not sure what the guidelines are or how they'll enforce them. She should really have had a picture of him in his coffin tattooed to her forehead.

No, it would confuse people at first. People would wonder why she has a tatoo of a dead man, her husband perhaps. What they should do is tatoo the words "I left a child motherless and fatherless" on her forehead.

A scarlet letter then, D branded to each cheek, and what you said above tattooed, deeply, on her forehead.

Yikes! I'm afraid of the punishment Skoorb would hand out if they ever caught me looking at Chinese midget wrestler pron. :Q

What you should do is find a new country to live in....

The system is not 100% and someone getting tagged incorrectly is not fair to them.

Our system works that sometime a guilty man may walk, but an innocent man shouldn't ever be executed....yet it still happens.

The DUI laws are BS, the product of lobbying for big $$$ on the caskets of victims.

What they need to do is take out all the mandatory BS and standardness and do it on a case by case basis.

Ever few accidents that cause injury or death have anything alcohol related to them, this is all a fabricated problem.

Drunk drivers are real and it absolutedly sucks they seriously maim and kill people, but for all the time and money the government spends the only ones benefitting is the MADD/SADD lobbists.

only 30 days in jail!?!? wtf.

This waste of space deserves to be tossed into a wood-chipper feet first.

I agree, she got off way to easy.

30 days for manslaughter is ridiculous.

Agreed. In my mind she should've gotten a couple of yrs at least...

Teh ACLU and civil right attorneys are gonna be all over this. They will call it cruel and unusual punishment and a violation of her civil rights. Then it will be overturned on appeal.

Too bad, it would have been a good thing for her to carry his pic. They should also give her a pic of the wife in a coma and the kid who has no parents, too.

🙂

Kind of like Scarlet Letter.

Seems kinda cruel and unusual to me.

Really? So tell me what kind of punishment you'd suggest for someone who was caught red handed driving under the influence of alcohol along with banging a car head on killing both passengers leaving their only child to be without parents for the rest of his/her life. Tell me, thanks.

How about something outlined by PA legislators not some penalty randomly assigned by a judge.

Holy crap for the kid. Dad dies on his/her birthday, mom's in a coma from his/her birthday. No parents from day 1.

Then there's the drunk chick. She kills a guy, puts his wife in a coma, leaves their new kid without parents, and forces the kid's new family to have to deal with an unexpected child. 30 days for ending 1 life, royally fvcking up 2 more, heavily burdening another family, and adding all that emotional distress?

Drunk chick's lawyer pwned the court.
