Super cliff time:

- Go to bar to see friend playing guitar
- Night ends, people come back to party at bonfire
- I go to sleep as soon as I get home
- Receive call from someone outside @ 2AM - "Get outside NOW!"
- I come out to see people looking at the front of my car, damage to front
- Drunk people pulled out and backed into the front of my car
- They got out of their car and saw the damage to mine and high-tailed it out of there
- Friends didn't have time to stop them
- Cops called, say they can't do anything, give me case number

I have the following information on them thanks to friends:

- Both first names
- 6 out of 7 license plate digits (last digit is always a number, so only 10 possible plates in the state of MD)
- Make and model of vehicle
- Complete physical descriptions
- Their place of employment (work at bar mentioned above)

What should I do? Go to their work, look for the vehicle and call the cops? Call my insurance only and let them try to figure it out? I really don't want to pay a $500 deductible because of some drunk fucks that hit my car.

Call your local police precinct, give them your case number and the info you have from your friends.

The cops said they couldn't do anything about the partial plate "thanks to the DC sniper." Whatever the hell that means.

The precinct I called was the local department.

I think this is best. Then go from there.

2 choices.

If you can locate the car later take pictures of the damage and get the last number. If you have a lawyer friend who will run the tag for you, file a claim with their insurance company and give your friends as witnesses. If not, you'll have to give your ins co the tag number and let them fix your car and go after the guy. You'll be out your $500 for at least a few months though. Subrogation takes forever.

Or once you have made a decent attempt to locate the other driver you could file an Uninsured Motorist claim through your insurance company. Filing through UM and not through against your own coverage will mean getting your car fixed without the deductible. The difference is that the other guy gets off scot free.

That's all I got.

Call the cops again. If you can get the full license plate, that will help. However, a cop friend said that they could run partial plates with no problems.

I wonder what the penalty is in MD for a hit and run situation? It mighe be hard to prove they were drunk though.

Well... I think in many states Hit & Run = Loss of license, while DUI just leads to lots of fines for the first FEW offenses.

edit: To keep it going...

Throw a brick at their "wigger" truck

Winnar!
Also get pictures showing your car's paint on their bumper. Then turn all evidence over to police. If they still refuse to do anything give it to your attorney.

Ok, I talked to my insurance agent. He was pretty clear that he didn't want me to go to their work. He said he wasn't sure how it would be filed, but that UM was a possibility.

I may have a friend drive by there today or sometime this week and try to spot the car and get the last plate number anyways. Does anyone know of a way to check plates? Like I said before, there are only 10 possible combos. Getting a picture of my paint on their bumber might be a problem, because my car is black and I believe their bumper may be black, too. I'll see what my friend says.

I was considering calling the bar they work at, but it would simply be too easy for them to say A) those people don't work here, or B) nobody here drives that car.

We shall see what happens!

You should go to the parking lot of the bar they work at and put some super sticky glue on their windshield. That will teach em.

Haha, I remember that thread. I got all the vandalism juices out of me when I was in middle school.
