Drum/Synth software... Anyone using?

I have been around creating loops the last week of so. I didn't really know anything about it until recently. I've played with FL Studio and ReBirth. FL Studio has a weird interface but you get used to it. ReBirth is kind of hard to use because it mimics the TR-808 and TR-909 interfaces (which sucked).

Anyway. Does anyone play around with this stuff? What other software is out there? I am interested in making eletronic/industrial type music which I play guitar and keyboards over.

Yep! Look at my moniker! :D

That said, if you like FL Studio, you need to take a look at getting Reason This is by the same people who make ReBirth. It's kinda a all-in-one studio.

There's a lot of software out there, and quite a bit of it for free, too.

Synths, samplers, drum machines, effects processors, loopers, you name it. (Of course, all kinds of guitars, too!)

By the way, you can do other kinds of music besides electronic, too. I have a background in classical music also, and the demo for Personal Orchestra so blew me away that I ordered the software on impulse.

Any more questions, post them here!

I checked out Reason and was a little overwhelmed. It seems to do a lot but I didn't take much time figuring it out. I will probably back to it this weekend. I am really liking FL Studio and may stick with it. I grabbed samples for all the old Roland drum machines and am going crazy making loops. I put everything together in GarageBand on the Mac, it's sort of an Acid clone. Fun stuff.

I like FL a lot, but I'd like to learn other programs. A lot of the stuff is a bit overwhelming to me, because I'm not very musically inclined. But it's fun and I want to get better.

Get Cubase and Reason and a midi controller, and thats pretty much all you need.

BTW, there is a tutorial CD for Reason which is really helpful. FL studio is great but Reason is a lot more powerful. The best setup is to just get Cubase and then you can use both inside of Cubase.
