Don't worry hagbard, you're safe as long as we don't start a war on dumbasses.

Sure, and we have to deal with the druggies.

They're all coming to BC, and they tend to be a nicer bunch that what come from Ontario or Alberta.

He is saying we should send all of our drug addicts and potheads to Canada.

Nope. I'm saying that those who want to live free should consider moving to Canada and leave the Police States. We respect individual rights here, we don't just pay freedom lip service.

I will take the police states of America over the police provinces of Canada...

Seems to me the main issue of hagbard's life, or at least his posts here, revolve around unfairness and injustice. The US's drug policy just happens to fall within those boundaries. I don't understand why everyone seems to belittle the argument over pot by thinking it's only about pot. It's about much more than that, it's about freedom and federal government out of control.

Drug addicts? Half you guys sound nicely conditioned by those anti-drug commercials.

No so much "unfairness" but definately "injustice". I used to laugh at the idea of US imperialism, but after seeing what the DEA and the Bush administration is doing here in Canada, I've become a believer. The more I check it out, the more I believe. It has very little to do about pot (of which I rarely use). It has to do with freedom, and the threat to that freedom not from mygovernment but from the government of the United States (ironic, isn't it?). Maybe its rather small scale influence, here it doesn't take much to see why there is so much resentment toward the US government where the pressure is even greater. That pretty much sums it up.

If I were to believe that the presiding attitude that resonates here at ATOT as the overall attitude of most Americans I too would be alarmed. Fortunately many of those who are the most outspoken regarding events like drugs in society, the War with Iraq and abortion really are the just the disenfranchised who are written off as the lunatic fringe and rightfully so.

As the war with Iraq draws near most Americans are realizing the consequences of that action and are demanding legitimate proof that war is necessary. On the Drug front, I truly believe that those who are intelligent to think for themselves are questioning the so-called War on Drugs and whether or not it's even the slightest bit effective. As for the Abortion issue, even those who might not feel it's moral believe that in a free society the decision should be left up to those involved, not the government and surely not the minority who quote their belief in popular myths called religion.

I think we here in CA passed that proposition, and the feds should stay the fvck out. Unless it has to do with defense or interstate commerse, the Federal government should just stay out. I don't smoke anything, but I am not going to tell people they can't smoke if it helps them live a more normal life. And it's not for me to decide if it helps them. It's for them and their doctor. And if someone wants to smoke pot just to get high, that's fine by me too, so long as they don't drive or show up to work stoned.
