so my younger cousin is getting an M3 and his dad brought it by our house today to have me take a look at it and see what i thought.. he let me test drive it around the neighborhood and man do i love that car... that thing could fly and i'm jealous.. maybe i'll get some pictures of it tomorrow.. my uncle's supposed to decide tomorrow ... if he's going to buy it or not.. hes suspicious that it's been in a wreck but Carfax says its clean.. so who knows.. he's got his reasons (one missing sticker under the hood, same w/ the trunk and some other various minor things that indicate some work)...

anyways, specs..
99 BMW M3 2D Coupe
~62500 Miles
all the standards plus many options including premium sound, dual power seats, rear spoiler, sliding sunroof, 6 Disc changer, premium wheels, brand new tires and brakes, brand new clutch...
black

the wheels are the same as this car...

Well it depends on the work done.

It could be something minor like replaceing a few body panels (which doesn't comprimise the structural integrity of the car) or it could be something major where frame-repair was involved (which could cause some changes in car behaviour).

So if its minor body work done, then it shouldn't be too bad.

I've driven a couple E36 M3's and they are pretty nice. The engine is incredible but the suspension is pretty stiff and they are very expensive to maintain. I personally would get an E46 330Ci because it's a much more liveable daily driver.

THat's a good point, does your cousin understand the cost to maintain them?

he knows they're real expensive to maintain and understands that the 20K going into it is ALL the money that my uncle is willing to spend.. after that, all repairs are my cousin's responsibility...

i don't think so. the new M3 is so sweet

yeah apparently it ate so much sweets it got real overweight. 😛

still a nice car... but not as sharp as the E36. People with E46 M3s on BMW forums are trading them in for E36s. That says something.

Sounds like a good price. My brother's boss took them both out a few years ago, to a race track - it was a bring your own car racing day and they'd give you some lessons and let you hit the track. My brother hit it with the m3!
