So my uncle came over for a party my parents were having the other day, ( Dads Birthday ) and he came with his new Bimmer M5. I never really looked into the new M5 much, so I really didn't have any idea what was in store for me. He asks if I wanna go for a spin and I accept. He lets me get behind the wheel ( Im seventeen ) and we start drivin away. I don't push it to much at first because we were in a residential area, we get onto Rt72 In manahawkin NJ , and I still forget to add a little more gas and end up cruisin at 55 MPH.

My uncle says we should test it out on the parkway and see what the baby can really do. Off the entrance ramp I have to accelerate a great amount because the lane ends, so here comes in the M button. My uncle shows me this little button on the steering wheel and says " Press the button on the steering wheel with the M on it, it'll help." Keep in mind Im in 3rd gear when I press it. Boy do I get scared shitless. Suspension stuffens up revs go up to almost 6000, the seats grasp around my back, and the horsepower gets raised from 400 to 500. I floor it. I was doing 40 and quickly got up to 90. It was a great thrill. The cars behind me quickly speed up and admire the masterpiece I'm driving and stare in awe that I was driving it. Unfortunatly I have to return home and return to reality.
Anyone looking for a smooth fast cruiser, the Bimmer M5 is your safest bet.

My uncle lets me drive his sports cars. I have to suck his cock afterwards, but its worth it.

I went to school with Fecundo Bacardi. Yeah, THAT Bacardi. He drove a Countach (this was in 1987).

IIRC the initial feedback on the manual-equipped M5s was not great, as I believe you can't fully disable the traction control, but I would still take one over the DSG car. The idea of a 7-speed transmission with 11 different modes just seems silly to me.

BMW uses a SMG in the M5 and I believe its only available on the M5 and old old E46 M3.

The car was initially released only with a SMG gearbox, in fact, the manual is slower. (I think it might even be the old 6sp from the E39 M5)

The U.S is the only country in the world where the 6 speed manual was later released to please the //M enthusiasts.

It can be disabled now.

The SMG III is still superior performance wise, since the S85 engine has a relatively narrow true powerband, so the closer gearing and way faster shifting helps.

Yeah, that's my understanding too. I would always expect a sorted SMG to be faster than a manual transmission (if it isn't, what's the point?). I would still take a true manual given the choice.

I mistyped DSG rather than SMG - I understand the gearbox in the M5 is an SMG (though as it happens I believe BMW is now making a DSG that will be used in the M3).

You fail in this lie.

"Off the entrance ramp I have to accelerate a great amount because the lane ends, so here comes in the M button"

"Keep in mind Im in 3rd gear when I press it."

"and the horsepower gets raised from 400 to 500. I floor it. I was doing 40 and quickly got up to 90."

So you floored it on the entrance ramp to highway speeds. Then you press the M button and go from 40 to 90.

I'm confused. When are highway speeds 40? How can you "Accelerate a great amount" on a highway and only be doing 40? Then to only accelerate to 90?

Loads of BS in this story.

I was doing 40 on the entrance ramp you moron, maybe you go 90 when you turn in to enter the parkway, but I was trying to not kill myself. Try to re read the post and get back to me noob.

The OP's next post will tell us about his day job as a surgeon, his apartment with 5 female model roommates, or his tough decision about whether to buy the movie theater or the mini-golf course. ;)

I agree. No way this happened.

People don't let 17 year olds drive their M5s on the NJ Parkway, a challenging highway. Said 17 year old would be very unlikely to "floor" it, as their is a tremendous amount of power long before the pedal is completely down.

"The cars behind me quickly speed up and admire the masterpiece"

come on.

Please... people can call shens all they want over in the L&R forum, but in the garage? as far as the last comment, yeah okay, he was probably was just saying that. But to doubt that he even drove it and just wanted to come on here and make up a story?

And as far as people not letting 17 year olds drive their m5's on the NJ parkway. Okay, ive never been there. But watch one episode of "My super sweet 16" and youll realize that some people let 16-17 year olds do whatever the hell they want. If you think driving a car on a road is the extent to some parents abilities to parent....whew.

Maybe im just crabby cause its late and im tired....but you guys sound like the same guys who bitch to dailytech about having a comma where there should be a semicolon.
