dropping under 1.5 vcore??

wtfOO

runnin a p4 1.6@2431 mhz with default vcore..at full load(running prime95), vcore drops to 1.502. is this ok? or should i raise the vcore in bios? what should the vcore not drop under? thanks in advance for answerin these questions..

i wasn't aware that the P4 could change it's voltage
Do you have the P4m ??
maybe your software is just giving false readings of the vcore ??

what kinda PSU do you have maybe it isn't able to supply the voltage and under full load this is becoming more prevalent
this might be an issue with 300watt or less psu's

well..im runnin on a asus p4b533 mobo so im readin the vcore off of Asus PC Probe. it jumps from 1.52 down to 1.502..My psu is some 250 watt generic company rite now because i recently blew up my 300 watt so i am also waitin for a 420 watt psu. Im jus wondering if i should maybe take the Vcore out of "Auto" in the bios and change it to a higher number like 1.6 or something. so far its been runnin stable at 44 degrees in prime95 for the past hour..

vcore is 100% controlled by the board. you would need a very seriously week PSU to effect vcore.

those drops are 100% normal.

example:
i set my vcore to 1.65v in bios.
i get 1.72v idle in windows.
i get as low as 1.66v during prime95.

im using a E-Max 550w PSU.

<EDIT> ooops forgot to tell you - i use the same board as you.

yea..well jus as i posted my last post..prime95 stopped. hardware failure.. i guess i will have to up the vcore a little bit. maybe to 1.6, and run prime95 again.

if uping the vcore doesn't help (doubt it will)
just lower your oc
the psu is having trouble supplying enough power

....how does your 12v rail look under load? how bad is it?
at low 11s itll most likely crash.
adding more vcore right now will probably make it worse til you get the new PSU.

the flux in the vcore is normal tho 😉

I have upped my computer to 2.463 now and my vcore is set at 1.550 rite now. its runnin pretty steady. however, my 12v rail is, at its low(runnin prime95, winamp, irc, aim, and this), around 11.67. Is this ok? i am now running on a Turbolink 420 watt PSU.
