Sort of.

Hmm. Doesn't really appeal to me, but I'll keep that in mind.

You've already paid for the classes, so might as well get your money's worth and finish them out.

Besides that, at least for me, I'd finish as a matter of principle.
I'm not concerned about the money. I pay 50% of in-state tuition, which isn't a lot.

Anyway, I'm probably going to finish.

tuition was already paid by somebody. Might as well just finish off the classes and then move on.

don't finish in my opinion, then you won't be obligated to show your e-penis while pretending to help people out.

If he's in an academic graduate (not professional, eg, MD, JD, MBA, PT, etc) program he didnt pay for the classes.

Uh. I dont know what school you go to but, yes you do. Most programs dont have a whole lost of full tution fellowships to hand out. I'd bet hes atleast paying 1/4-1/3 with loans, thats if he is a ta.

I pay 1/2 of tuition, MS program. PhD people don't pay penny. In my state, that is.

It is not like that at most universities.

No, it is like that at most universities. It's typical for PhD students to get full tuition remission.

Agreed. I'm in a Ph.D. program myself, and every program at which I interviewed--including the one in which I'm currently enrolled--offer full tuition reimbursement plus a stipend. But if you leave early enough in the semester, you do indeed have to pay the money back.

Besides that, as another poster said, someone paid for it. If it wasn't you, then it was the school, the government, and the student who otherwise would've received that spot.

cannot stress this enough, complete classes.

in a interview for a job in another field, they will look at grades no matter which field it was from. This tells about your commitment and hard work to see things through. employers will look at it.

I'm halfway through my first semester and am struggling a little bit. Apparently, I can't get a "C" or less (have to get a B or higher) in all my classes.

Is this a commonality amongst grad schools or is it just mine? The thing is, I haven't read anywhere that I couldn't get a C in a class and still get my masters degree.

Can anyone comment on this?

Mine is that way as well. Minimum passing grade for a grad student is B (or maybe B-).

Grad school was the biggest waste of money that I've ever spent. Couldn't get a job with my masters degree, and my current employer wouldn't even give me a decent raise the year that I finished it. (Masters in engineering, 0.8% raise.)
