Dropped sk7..

I was moving some stuff and dropped an sk7. Theres a very small hole/dent near the center of it. I can't remember if the hole goes over the core or not atm because a friend has the sk7. Let's say it does--could I just fill the hole with some thermal compound and still use the hs? Or is this thing toast? It's too much a hole to lap down. I don't need to use the thing, but it's for a friend.

Thanks

Yes but if the dent is right over the core... then he will have to put a lot more thermal compound just to have somewhat of a full contact with the heatsink.

You can always try to smear it with a little thermal paste, and sorta put it over the CPU without attaching the clip, and see if the hole is where the core is?

Good idea, but I'd put the grease on the core and apply the heatsink clean to see if it makes good contact.

Ohh... crap, I wasn't getting that it damaged the contact surface, I thought he meant he damaged the fins somehow.
