I dropped a Powerbook G3. Can't get it to turn on now unless I jam and twist the power connector into the power adapter real hard.

I don't think the computer itself is messed up to badly, think it's just that the power adapter hook-up has been damaged. I looked inside the hook-up and it seems that the contact pins are bent a little bit.

Anyway, don't expect you guys can help me much, but any help/advice/test would be appreciated.

Thanks

Carefully take apart the case and check the power plug in, straighten out anything that looks bent or crooked. Alot of small phillips head screws hold the case together, just make sure you put them back they way you found them. Make sure any cables or ribbons don't come unconnected when you seperate the case/keyboard assembly. As long as you pay attention and put everything back correctly, you shouldn't have any problems. Take the battery out first, sounds like the laptop should be OK.

If you have to put pressure on it then there is a good chance the solder connection is cracked (assuming the DC-IN is connected directly to the board). Pretty easy to fix, just hard to get to if you don't like opening up laptops.

Thanks guys :)

How much you think a shop would charge to fix it? If it's prohibitive, I'll open 'er up myself and see what I can see.

Thanks again for the replies, I wasn't really expecting much help, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

I would guess you would get charged a minimum of $100, probably much more if there will be any soldering or the like involved. Give it a try yourself, if it gets confusing for you just stop at that point and put it back together, no harm done.
