Hello folks,

was driving to my friend's to LAN, had the computer on the front seat and i broke hard. It slid off my seat and onto the floor. I didn't think it was hard enough to jar or break anything. But now my comp is acting funny.

When i play WoW for a few minutes the comp just shuts off. I checked temps on my 7900GTO and they're normal. I took the card out and reseatted it, same problem. I thought maybe the power supply was busted so i unplugged all but the necesary components, still shuts off. I check all the connections in the computer and they seem to be fine. What else can i check?!

if it only shuts off when i am WoWing then it must be the video card right? That or the power supply.

ASUS PC Probe shows my power supply volts as +12V = 12.096, +5 = 4.919, +3.3V = 3.264
CPU Temp is 35
MB Temp is 35 as well

I also reset the BIOS, same problem.

It could be anything really. My money's on the PSU or the HDD though. You can't just go into bios and look at stats. Get a cheap PSU for testing and replace it. If your problems go away, then voila. If not, then well we'll see.

It may be shutting down because the CPU is overheating. Check to see if your CPU cooler was dislodged.

the hard drive did sound a bit louder than normal. If my voltages on the power supply show all normal wouldn't that rule it out as a possibility?

software readings on your psu aren't accurate and can't be trusted.

I would test to see if anything became lose in your system have you tried doing anything else with the system? maybe another game just in case what about normal browsing does it shutoff at all while doing that? and how about idle?

cpu temps and cooler are fine

Do athlons have an internal temperature sensor? Even if they do, are you measuring from it, or a diode under the cpu socket? I would check, just to make sure.

I have been doing normal browsing for the past half hour now with cpu and mobo temps in the 30's. I haven't tried running any other grfx intensive games besides WoW

GPU temps are at 40 degrees

The AMD64s do not have a diode underneath, so I guess the sensor is inside.

try playing another game than see if it crashes or something else graphics intensive.
