Dropped internet connection

My internet connection has been dropping for a while now. It drops and reconnects really quickly. The only time i notice is when my aim shuts off and turns back on automatically.

Is it my motherboard? It's been happening for a while now but i was to lazy to figure out what it was. Thanks

Are you sure it is not just AIM?
There have been reports with AIM doing that.
It supposed to happen when you are running certain type of a network card.
Look it up on the net, I can not remember which NIC that was.

Yeah im pretty sure it's not AIM. I've tried switching screen names and it doesnt happen at work.

When i'm at work i leave my AIM on at my house and i receive a MSG about ever 30 mins that someone just signed on my SN.

If you are saying that my network card has a conflick with AIM, then Maybe.

Are you using a wireless adapter to connect to the internet?

I'm just using cox cable to connect.

Check the cat 5 connections to your NIC and to the cable modem and router. Try another cable. You can also try another NIC driver, or an add-in PCI NIC to see if it works better. You can also try a release/renew with your IP.

The next time your internet doesn't work, look at the modem. Are all the lights on?
