Hope this is the correct forum

My computer:
Athlon XP 1700@1900 145 fsb
Abit KR7A-RAID
3HHD..40 gb ATA 133,7200 rpm..has apps, winxp
30gb...ATA 100, 7200 rpm games
80 gb 7200 ATA133 for video editing
Radeon videocard
NIC
SB live
PCI firewire with TI chip
scsi scanner card adaptec

all the HDD on HPT 372 controller as ATA100/133 drives ..NO raid

I have used Sonic video vegas 3 and pinnnacle studio DV 7...I had no dropped frames when Dv capturing 1-2 weeks ago..taking down 20 min of video (I think it dropped a few frames)..
I was using an Antec 300w ps with bios 7g and 2.019 PT drivers....

I bought a new Antec True Power 480w PS and updated to 9N bios and HPT 2.31 drivers and now dropping frames like crazy...I have noticed believe it or not that my 5v line reads 4.73-4.81 and 12 v reads 11.86 on the 480 w PS...on the 300w Antec I was getting 5.03v(occ into 4.90)'s on 5v line and 12 v stayed at 12.03 or slightly less..this is using the winbond HW monitor from Abit

Any idea why I am getting dropped frames when DV capture via Firewire transfer to my 80gb HDD(also happening with 30gb)...I am getting large number of dropped frames where you can see problems in video

I added the 480 w PS to allow the use of the 3HDD without taxing the 300w PS

I do not understand why now ..I should note with the Antec 300w PS the 3HDD seem to work ok but I was worried that the load would lead to problems..I did get some bad burns with the 3 HDD and 48x cd writing...at 148fsb...dropped t o145 fsb and this went away ..still using the 3HDD on Antec 300w..so I figured if I go to 480 w Antec PS I would be ok on 148fsb ....but now the dropped frames

weird you should'nt be dropping frames with that juice, I have way less power than that and I don't have that problem.

Try resetting you bios to default hard reboot and go make your bios changes again and reboot again see if that helps. But the thing that worries me here is the HPT 2.31 drivers did you try going back to the older ones.

Thanks for the input..needless to say I sh*t brick last night withese results....I did once before try the HPT 2.31 bios and drivers and with my 300w ps..the Maxtor 30gb drive made some funny noises in winxp and reverted back to older bios and drivers....

I figured the next step was to go back to 7g bios and my trusty 2.019 drivers...but I hoping I screwed up something...I am using the bios settings as 7g bios in 9N..copied them down in my manual and retypred them in...

So far my experience with Abit and there new bios are not good..I always seem to go back to older..the 7g was ok..6G bios was good..at least I think it was 6G..may need to back to this one

Thanks

any other suggestions???
