Dropped connections

I've been having some werid issues with my router lately. I keep dropping connections for no reason and then the net starts working without me doing anything. I'll either be playing a game when all of suden get disconnected or I could be Remoted into my desktop from work and i'll get disconnect(+ I won't get any ping responses for a few minutes, and then I'll start to get replies)

I have a total of 4 machines on my network. 2 are set with static IPs(my desktop and backup/media center) + 2 lesser computers set to DHCP.

It is time to chuck this router and get a new one? This router's like 2 years old.

same thing always used to happen to me. look into an aftermarket firmware such as Sveasoft's Alchemy.. fixed a bunch of problems for me, but im still not happy with linksys' overall performance. i really expected more reliable operation from such a large company.

Very possible you just need to get a new router, but I've had the exact same symptoms and it ended up being my ISP.

I was sorting of thinking that but when this happens I can not ping or access the router setup page until what ever is wrong corrects its self or of I restart the modem. The ISP shouldnt have anything to do with that.

I think I just may declare this router about to die. Will give me an excuse to but that gaming router from D-link with a build in gigabit switch. That will then give me an excuse to buy a gigabit NIC for the NAS/MediaCenter
