I think I've broken my toes near my little toe middle and left one.

The weight has caused a blood blister on one and swelling bruising on the other. How can I tell if they are 'broken' or just 'bruised'. It hurts like a *(^&%

Do you need a doctor for a toe or will it generally just heal?

It really depends. I've broken toes before and they've healed just fine. However, I've set them each time I've broken them and buddy-taped them. Whatever you're comfortable with.

Ok so I looked up buddy taping. What do you do if two toes side by side are broke? Do you buddy tape three?

Big toe | 2nd toe | 3rd toe | 4th toe| 5th toe

My 3rd and 4th are probably broke. Of course, I do this crap on a memorial day weekend beginning where I either have to spend a crapload of money to go to an ER (no minor emergency places around here) - or wait it out for "TUESDAY" . Holidays always feel like you are in a 3rd world country as far as medicine is concerned. Sigh

Broke the tip of my toe a few months back when I kicked my footboard in my sleep. It healed on its own, although I didn't tape it because at the time I didn't think it was broken. It's now got a bit more of a bulge in that last knuckle, but other than that it works fine.

Definitely second the suggestion for the tape, though. I honestly don't know that an ER would do much more for you than that, other than maybe get you some pain meds.

Re-set it so it looks right (if you've waited too long this might hurt a tad). Buddy tape as previously mentioned (if I broke my 2nd and 3rd toe, I'd tape 1/2 and 3/4).
