Dropped a library book in the bathtub

It's your responsibility to pay for it. What's with today's society, everyone thinking that they are entitled to everything and responsible for nothing?

For fvck's sake ... just go in, tell them, and in all likelihood they'll tell you not to worry about it if it is already beat up. They probably have 48 other copies anyway.

<--- wife is a Librarian

And if they request you pay ... suck it up and cough out $7.

If you wanna be an asshole, you can drop the book, get a bucket of water, and pour the water in the slot so all books including yours will be... you know what I'm talking about. They cannot blame you if all books are wet.

 that's awesome.

WINNAR!

Update: Ah if only I could be so lucky.

Brought the book back to the library, explained the water damage, and they said they'd send it back to the library it was loaned from with a note(library network here in the Boston area).

Looked at my account about a week later- $23+ fine on my account. Called the library, I explained that I would agree to pay for some damage or even replace the book, but since the book was already falling apart I didn't think I should have to pay for the RETAIL price of the book.

They said no. Not only did they say no, but I cannot even replace the book with a brand new copy which I could purchase for half of what they want in fines.

So much for "honesty being the best policy"...

So I am reconsidering my "honesty" policy...

Here's what you do. Don't drop any more books in the bathtub. Problem solved.
