Dropped a blank check today

Dropped a blank check today somewhere between here and the barber shop 2 miles away. Re-traced my steps but couldn't find it. It's a windy day, so probably blew away in the wind.

Check was entirely blank - no signature or anything. Though it does have my address on it, and of course account/routing #.

Thoughts?

Yes, they really work.

It might have your routing number and address, but they don't know your signature. You might want to call the bank and put a hold on any unusual transactions or something of that sort.

What about the fact that it has my address information on it?

Chances are someone who finds the check isn't going to say "OMG, an address." and won't try anything shady. It's not like someone stole the check. You lost it. Besides, who wants to fraudently try and pass a check, when it can be traced, etc?

In my nefarious days we'd break into cars and steal checks from the middle of the check book and cash them. Was a good racket. Carowner never knew the checks were missing. We weren't looking for stereos or anything like that, the only thing we wanted was a checkbook, that was jackpot.

Funny you mention that. Some criminals with two stolen cars showed up on my street last night. They took off running and stayed hidden in the neighborhood stealing other stuff. Anyways the police showed up, and they traced the owner by finding a checkbook in the car. Their license plate look up system was down if you were wondering.

heh, mainly a warning that you shouldn't leave your checkbook in your car. We'd jimmy the car lock so lots of time the owner never even knew they were broken into. You'd be surprised at how many people leave their checkbook in the glove compartment.

do banks actually check signatures? I've not matched my signature that closely every time and it's always accepted. When I was younger I couldn't even decide on a signature and it was always accepted.

I'm curious about that too... when I sign my checks, I just scribble my name... sometimes I wonder if it even does anything to protect me(in regards to my unsigned checks).

Can't you just "cash it" somewhere without giving up and real information if its below a certain amount
