Currently running an AMD 4800X2 Dual Core set up on an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium MB. Will be using the 4800X2 in another system and plan to drop in an FX-55 San Diego processor in place of the 4800 and keep the system up and running. Are there any adjustments I will have to make with my Wndows XP Pro installation or elsewhere on the system in making this processor switch? Thanks.

Eh? Why would you do that? The FX-55 is only 200MHz faster than the 4800+. To answer your question, no, you shouldn't need to do anything at all, just swap the CPUs and that's it.

I have a much better ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB, which I couldn't afford when I built the 4800X2 system. The A8N32-SLI is what I wanted in the first place, but the board was $300 when I originally built it.

THanks. That's what I thought. I was hoping not to have to do a windows repair. I've swapped out socket 754 processors before without issue, but not a 939 socket or dual core to single core.
