7 Smart Case Fan 2's, huh? I think Saddam tortures scientists with those things. Actually, I do think those are okay fans for cpu use, only because they move so much more air than the YS Tech adjustable fans. I wish the YS Tech moved more air.....

Anytime I even hear the name Thermaltake anymore, I get a bad taste in my mouth.

If you look at the front intake and side blowhole fans ... they are both restricted by either the HD frame, or the side panels predrilled holes.
Too many plastic parts to break also.
I cant see 'myself' buying that case.

I still like the 75 dollar Antec 1000AMG better. you can always add that LED temp thing.

Yeah. It definately is... ugly though

Well the hard drive cages are rotated like the Antec Sonata.

The button / panel layout is the same on the front... looks like it has the same dimensions as an antec.

I need a slide out motherboard tray or forget it. Even Lian Li has doesn't have them in all their cases but it is a pet peeve of mine.

The new XaserIIIs dont use smart fan2, please read up on them before bashing. These are newer and quieter fans. They run medium speed at about 30db but look at how much air they move at that RPM. Plus you get the fan control to quiet them even more if need be. If those numbers hold true then this is a sweet case indeed.

I was looking into this case and it can be found for 185-189 if you look around.

I see, I stand corrected.
Now, that having been said, I'd be willing to bet that those fans are not nearly as quiet as you might think. Thermaltake (and all manufacturers, for that matter) report their own noise figures, and depending on how those are meassured, may be quite subjective (like there's no way on earth the Smart Case Fan 2 is only 17dB turned all the way down), and even still, 7 fans at 30 dB, plus a cpu fan and power supply fan (or two if you like your power supplies extra noisy), is going to equate to one loud case.

I don't particularly care for the styling, or the drive cover, either, but that's in the eye of the beholder.

I can't remember the site (I think it was hot hardware) but they said the case was quieter than the Xaser II despite the extra fans.

And the case is totally redesigned, and you better not lose the keys....

I don't trust a lot of the little sites. A lot of them said the Volcano 9 was pretty quiet with the RPMs all the way down, no way that is true. My entire system now is quieter than the Volcano 9 at any speed.

Yeah most manufacturers arent 100% honest with their db rating but you can always use the fan control knobs to turn them down. Having 7 fans Im sure you can get away with slowing down the fans while maintaining adequate cooling.

Edit: I also like the CPU temp readout.

OK I finally saw one of these in the store. Linky. (CAD$ prices)

It is as ugly in person as it is in the many pictures.

I think I'll go for a plain Lian-Li look, or perhaps the iStyle.
