DROOL: DPreview.com Review of the Canon 1D Mark II

I wish the megapixel arms race would slow down a bit, so I could feel comfortable buying a top-end body like this one.

I've got a coolpix 5700 that I'm gonna make last until I reach that 'comfort' point.

Even in this review of an 8 megapixel camera, they mention the kodak 14 megapixel.

That's almost as much as my car cost!! Of course, I still can't seem to get my car to take pictures. I don't even know where the flash card plugs in. 😛

This camera is more than I need, but I look forward to that 8mpx CMOS sensor trickling down into the 10D-Mark II and 400D.

Yup that is nice the extra MP but I'd take faster shoot to shoot and continous shooting though 😀.

Gf has a D70. Very nice 😀. Love the shoot and no lag.

But man this looks GREAT.

I was thinking when they'd review it so thanks!

Bah, the D70 has its merits over the 300D, but CMOS > CCD!

I would wait until they have improved the technology...unfortunately these companies are coming out with higher and higher megapixel and resolution rates, but with each new release they forget to increase the max shutter speeds...for example in the comparison most of the specs are increased, but the shutter speed has slowed...many photographers know that (especially with analog cameras) shutter speed is critical, so I would not disregard this part of the specifications...hope this helps out making your decision.

j and r website said they had these in stock, I went to pick one up before work today and no dice. boo.

salesdroid asked me to check back on Thursday.

Do you know what you're talking about? Do you need faster shutter speeds? Shutter speed is a non-existant issue with a DSLR.

I wonder why they didn't use the foveon sensor.

Canon is making their own sensors, so they wouldn't use Foveon's. Canon is also going in a different direction that Foveon, by sticking with the Bayer pattern types instead of the multilayer approach.

Some people need faster shutter speeds. 1/8000 is still pretty fast, but under some conditions that might not be fast enough. I don't see how shutter speed is a non-existant issue with a DSLR; it still has a shutter and a speed associated with that shutter.
