So I currently have Storm 1. I was originally waiting to get the Droid 2 no matter what since it has a physical keyboard. But I went to a few stores and tested out the evo, incredible, Droid. And my biggest grip is typing on a touchscreens.

But these android phones were so much easier to type on, I did not really try to type with accuracy (pushing the buttons exactly center) and it still typed out what I wanted. And there was no lag at all. A much happier experience. There will also be swype on the Dx.

Now I dont know if I want the D2 any more lol

So should I just go ahead and get the Droid X? or Wait for the D2? The Size is not a factor nada. Just a preference on the keyboard which now does not seem as important.

Also any storm owners comment from switching to a different touchscreen phone and typing on it..ect

I was the same way. I eventually got used to typing on a Hero and now have a EVO. With the size of the keyboard on this thing I just don't see the need to for a hardware keyboard at all. On top of that their is Swype which is very nice once you get it set up and used to it. I still go back and forth with different keyboards but never feel that I want a hardware one.

I personally want a thin phone (i.e, no physical keyboard) so the options are the evo, galaxy s and droid. I've ruled out the evo and will likely go with the droid x (though galaxy s is tempting). if you want a keyboard then the droid 2 and galaxy pro are reasonable options. Only you can decide if you want a hardware keyboard on a phone.

Just wait until the Droid 2 is released, which should be next month at the latest so you can see how the new keyboard is and you can handle both phones. It should be just as fast as the Droid X, same res screen (but a bit smaller) so the keyboard will really be the main selling point for you.

There's an axiom in audio circles, buy the best sounding speakers because that's what you hear out of a stereo system, I feel the same way about screen size on cell phones, the screen is what you interact with, get the largest screen...

The Droid X looks pretty cool, and with the larger screen comes a larger keyboard, important for a touchscreen phone.

Man...seriously, wait for the Droid 2 just to try it, at least.

I was in the same camp as you before I got my HD2. I told myself everything you're hearing in this thread - its a bigger screen which makes it better, there's things like Swype, the screen size makes up for it, etc....

In the end, I've had the HD2 for about 3.5 months now, long enough to get used to the keyboard, and I still hate typing on it. Swype was fun when it was an occasional thing on my Droid, but it doesn't really do it for me as a primary keyboard. I'm now counting the days until the Epic 4G comes out so I can get a decent phone that also has a keyboard.

Yea, I think Ill go ahead and snipe the Dx on launch day. My bro also wants a new phone and he cant get it until new shipment comes after the 15th since he is going out of the country ,so hopefully the D2 will be out by then and if I don't like the Dx I can just swap since he wants the Dx . If anything I have a 30 days if I want to return it.

Droid vs Droid 2 (Motorola) Also gives comparisons to the DX; and both the D2 and DX will have the same Texas Instruments processor. Some 1Ghz chip; forgot the name.

oops. yes, i had the Storm, and it just died hrs after I gave my number to Bryt Eyes (this hot chick i met while at work) from a little rain. The storm sucks; always mistyping things, internet is horribly slow...
