I rooted my Droid and tried to install Bugless Beast on it, but it kept hanging on startup, so I went back to the stock 2.0.1 install, but still rooted. If I install the OTA 2.1 update, I'll just be "unrooted" and the phone should still work right? I'm just trying to avoid a catastrophe before it happens, or just prepare myself to reinstall apps all night if I have to.
 
I don't think there's been any official annoucement about the OTA update. You could try Smoked Glass, Simply Stunning, or Cyanogen Droid as well, all offer all the benefits of Android 2.1 and then some.
