Forgive me if this is already widely know, but I discovered a way to have custom ringtones and notifications without needing an app.
Simply mount the SD card in mass-storage mode and create three folders in the root directory of the SD card (I have heard that all caps are important; they may not be but I have verified that the all caps folder names work on my Droid):
- RINGTONES
- NOTIFICATIONS
- ALARMS
Then just dump the files you want to use into those folders and the standard Droid software will pick them up in the list of possible files for each type. Note that the Droid uses the ID3 "Title" data for the display name, so you must have the ID3 "Title" tag filled in for the files to show.
This works very well and it means you don't have to have any additional apps installed on the phone. IMO this makes things much smoother than having to use an additional app.
