Our hotel charges 13 bucks a night for wifi so I wifi tethered, allowing me and my wife to use our laptops at the same time without issue. Then I craved mexican food and used layar to find a place within walking distance. My droid worked shockingly well throughtou and, using verizons awesome network, left my old iphone and palm pre in the dust. Never been happier with a phone, and my next phone will be an android phone again, probably motorola again because I love the build quality and awesome first party accessories

Who's your provider and what droid are you using? Did tethering come with it or are you paying? Rooting?

On that note...I have the Droid's baby brother for now, the Devour. I can just click the optical trackpad to wake it up instead of the power button which is pretty convenient.

As far as what hand...yes, conventionally I would hold a phone in my left hand (right hand dominant). However with even my old phone I would move to right handed for texting, the crappy web, etc. Same with this one mostly, though it's smooth enough for the dumb thumb to get things done, I usually go with the right one.

It has power button upper left which is fine when picking it up right handed. But I usually just use my thumb to hit trackpad, then menu to unlock.

Motorola Droid on Verizon - I rooted my phone and used a rom with built in wifi tethering.

Cool. I'm on at&t now, but the plan is expiring soon. I'm torn between Droid and the iPhone, but I'm pretty sure droid is the way I'm going. I'm really eyeing the HTC Incredible..

My wife and I are two more right handed people that hold the phone in the left hand.

btw cyanogenmod 5.0.6 allows you to skip forward and back by a long press of volume up/down, while the phone is locked.

I'd wait a bit - the new iPhone will be out soon enough, probably within 3 months. Also, if wifi tethering is something you'll want to do, check to see if the htc incredible has been rooted yet.

HTC had it right with the kaiser/tilt. Power button on right side. I do almost all my input with my right thumb, and it's most natural to just slide my thumb over to that side to dink it off. Better than on top, be it left or right
