4″ Super AMOLED Advanced display
Full 5-row “illuminated” keyboard
RAZR styling
4G LTE
Non-removable battery (maybe)
Android 2.3.5
1080p video recording (assuming 8MP)
Front camera
HDMI out
MotoACTV syncing

Not all that different from the Droid 3. Screen should be better, and it is LTE. Guessing its probably a 1.2Ghz OMAP4 with 512MB of RAM?

Now, didn't Moto get themselves into trouble a few years back by releasing a myriad of phones with minimal differences in rapid succession? Droid X2, Droid 3, Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid 4. Whats next?

Well, I know my friend really prefers a physical keyboard, so the normal Droid line that does come with the keyboard is the only phone he considers, especially on Verizon's lineup.

It's shitty for enthusiasts, but it's a good strategy for Motorola. The casual buyer wants "the one that just came out." Well, if Motorola releases a new phone every 2-3 months, they can be reasonably assured that they are the phone that just came out, or close to it. The fact that their phones get the "Droid" brand, for the most part, means that Verizon also does most of their marketing for them.

Hope it's not really 512MB, that's really low for a new phone that will one day hopefully be updated to ICS.

I agree with what you're saying, but all of those companies pump out loads of phones like that. Nonetheless, Motorola really needs to slow down with the Droid product line before they do too much damage to the brand. They probably shouldn't release a numbered Droid more than once a year, otherwise it doesn't feel like a big deal at all.

As I understand it, Droid is Verizon's licensed trademark (from Lucas), and slaps it on phones as they see fit. I don't think Motorola has the final say in the matter. "Droid" phones have generally included non-Motorola devices, for example, like the Droid Incredible.

Verizon is earning tons of money from Droid.
They might as well milk the Droid brand for all it's worth.

"Droid" brand has never been synonymous with quality in my own mind. I'm not sure why consumers see it differently.
