Go a little north for meth...or way up north for some good green.....all in all, it's a waste.

Sacramento is the perfect kick off point to getting out of Sacramento.

Eight is Enough was set in Sacramento. Maybe there's a tribute plaque or wax museum.

Old downtown is ok for a stroll. Railroad museum is pretty awesome, if you are into that kind of stuff. You can catch a ride on a steam engine, but unfortunately the route is mostly 'meh' - not very scenic.

Visit the Capitol - could be educational. Maybe kick some corrupt representatives in the nuts.

Sac's not really a huge nightlife kind of town. It more of a raise your family type of suburb, and oh yeah, the capital is here.

Drive another 400 miles until you reach Monterrey.

Actually, Monterey is only about 200 miles...unless you mean Monterrey, Mexico...and that's a couple of thousand miles...

Normally, when someone asks,

I'm going to <insert name of place>. What is there to do?

I make some snarky reply such as, "There is absolutely NOTHING to do there that justifies leaving your hotel room," as a way of poking fun at a "geek forum member" who can't google it himself...HOWEVER, since we're talking about Sacramento...in this case, that's a completely accurate answer. Sactown has no "touristy" attractions beyond the state capitol building or "Old Sacramento," both of which are pretty boring.

Nothing. Sacramento is a place you're from, not a place you go to.

Unless you're Russian or Ukrainian.

Everyone know this.

old town and mid town are great areas to stroll - eat, drink, and shop at boutiques.

Lots of history can be had at Sutters Fort in midtown as well and its always cool to stroll around the State Capital.

If your looking to get out - take in a baseball game at the River cats, go for a drive up to Coloma or Auburn and check out the histroy of gold mining.

Ah hell...I forgot...Oldsmoboat has moved his "Basement Fun House" to the Sacramento area...Now THAT's worth the trip by itself.

LOL, lot of hatred here for Suckramento. :D

I lived there for 2 1/2 years and that was 7 years ago. Have had no desire to go back at all. I hated the place. Glad I'm back in civilization. Sacramento seriously does suck and that's not counting the government.
