Driving Pet Peeves. GRRRRRR.

Ok, so i'm driving along in the middle lane, minding my own business. and the car in front of me decides to change lanes and go to the right. Fine No problems, BUT he decides he's going to put on his brakes and slow down WHILE straddling both lanes. WTF is up with that?? he can't go all the way into the right lane before he starts to slow down??

WTF does he want to make me slow down for.

I HATE drivers that have NO consideration for drivers around them. GRRRRRR.

i said it was a driving pet peeve, i didn't say it was a problem that is central in my life.

I hate it people drive super slow in the number 1 lane. I usually cut in front of them and slow down to make em move to the next lane.

I hate people who don't use their blinkers. I'll be driving in back of a car going 50 mph, and all of a sudden, they'll slow down to 25 mph for no apparant reason. Until they make a right turn. it's, like, "oh, couldn't you have let me know *before* you slammed on the brakes?"

I also hate people who won't give you a break when you're trying to make a turn. it sucks to have to wait at an intersection for 10 minutes trying to make a left turn because the arseholes driving on the road can't slow down for 15 seconds to let me swing out.

My last pet peeve is SUV's. I'll brake for anyone trying to make a turn onto a busy road, unless there are no other cars behind me or if it's an SUV. I hate driving behind them. because of the fact that they're so big and seem to always have full-tinted windows, I can't see around them. I like to scan the road ahead as far as I can, but if I'm stuck behind an SUV, I can't see anything going on in front of them (whether it's a light changing red or some kid jumping out into the middle of the road).

my pet peeve is about gawkers who will slow down and slow everyone else down behind them just to feast their eyes on an accident on the other side of the freeway.
I wish there was a law against that...I'd be happy if they would pay for it since they inconvenience everyone behind them including people who have a deadline to meet or to be somewhere on time.
Either that or they should be shot.

there was an accident on the side of the freeway about a month ago... not in the way off traffic at all yet people were slowing down rubber necking... :frown: ...a cop started shouting at anyone he sees was looking... hahahaha... :beer:

Yeah that sucks, but that's why I cruise in the left lane all the time (I'm a try to pass everyone driver). I use the right lane in traffic. And I drive my SUV right of center in the lane so others can see around me. I don't want them rear-ending me just the same.

is it too much for me to expect him to actually go fully into the right lane before puttin on his brakes?

some people like to make sure theres no one there... and the thought of going on the brakes for some people think it makes it safer to do so.

like previously said... i see people rubber necking and they're pressing the brakes... :frown:

There are a lot of inconsiderate drivers (they think they're the only ones on the road)... it's quite amazing they are so oblivious... that's why you have to be the active one in avoiding things like this... meaning check the left lane and use it.

BTW, my biggest peeves are:

- rubberfuggineckers (I ride their ass as they gawk at the accident)
- people who don't signal - if you cut me off but at least signaled, I can live with that.
- improperly aimed headlights - I'm often tempted to turn my brights on if they're coming at me... but that wouldn't be nice... would it ? I use the day/night mirror all the time if they're behind me. I look at these people and they look like they have no idea something's wrong. @$%!@)(%*)( :|

I used to like driving... not anymore.

Yeah, I share most of those. I also hate being cut off by someone who doesn't indicate. If the driver indicates I find it a LOT less annoying.

on the reverse of the using signals is, i hate it when i signal and go to change lanes after confirming there is sufficient room to do so and the moron decides to speed up so that i can get in in front of him.

this one is difficult... as soon as the first person slows down then it's over for at least 10 minutes. It's a chain reaction even if no one else was rubbernecking behind the first car.

I have two main peeves.

1. People that haul ass in front of me from a side street when I do my typical 5 over ish and then they slow way the hell down. Why did you HAVE TO turn in front of me?!?!

2. People that drive big ass trucks/SUVs in the country that drive slow and drive in the middle of the road so I can't pass their dumb asses <-- Note typically damn women.

People who try to merge onto the freeway going 35 MPH.
People who brake on the freeway for NO reason. (Saw this the other day. Lady in right lane put on her brakes when car in the center lane changed lanes into the left lane. No one in front of her, she just felt she needed to brake.)
People who leave their foot on the brake going down the freeway. How are you to tell when they actually need to slow down?
People who won't let the 18 wheelers get back into the right lane.(They keep passing them on the right, slowing down two lanes of traffic)

ah! one more pet peeve. ultra-bright headlights.

I live right next to NYC. honestly, this area is so bright that people sometimes drive around at night *without* their headlights on and don't even realize it. there is no reason to own those ultra-bright lights.

People that piss me off are line cutters to get on the freeway when traffic is at almost a standstill. My basic rule is a 1 to 1 ratio. 1 person on the free way for 1 person getting on even though legally people on the freeway have the right of way. There are some people possibly on this board that will not only sneak in in a 1:2 ratio but if its a long on ramp with a large shoulder will cruise past 5 cars who already did the 1:1 and slide in. Pissess me off so badly. Although if I see it happening I'll try to box them out although this is probably more unsafe.
Any line cutting on the roadway does this to me.

My biggest driving peeve is when people are stopped at the lights and don't bother to use their signal lights. All around the city there is two lane traffic, so if you are turning left, put your signal on. There are some streets that are busy enough that you can sit for 2 or 3 light changes and still not make it through. And since I do deliveries, I like to get to the places in a reasonable amount of time.
