Driving me nuts: a7n8x deluxe + 2500+M

I have the BIOS setup right -- 133(266) * 14 but no matter what I do it is setting the chip as if it the bus us 133Mhz. Really freaking me out. Any advice?

Maybe I'm tired but I don't see the problem... 133MHz is the default FSB and it equates to 266MHz DDR. Which is what it looks like you are trying to set up.

What is the final reported CPU MHz as things currently stand?

The speed is 800Mhz in the BIOS, Windows, and even Sandra. BTW it's a the A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 board.

It looks like it the BIOS keeps taking the 14x multiplier as 7x. I have it at 166 * 12.5 and it's running fine. I just the system is stable at that speed.

Maybe I read somewhere that the higher multipliers on the ASUS boards don't work. Can anyone verify this?

I wrote ASUS support about this. It's really strange. The chip OCs like a mofo, running at 200 * 11 now and will probably do better if I tried, so it really does not matter if I can't get it to run at default. It's just really messed up.

I had the same problem with an aopen board. Your cpu is probably limited to 11.5 or 12 for the multiplier.

Here is what support said. I have no idea what he is trying to say:

Dear Friend :

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is ZYC, and I would be assisting you today.
when you get a un-locked AMD ATHLON XP/Barton CPU ,
If your CPU default multiplier is 12.5 or lower value ,you can only adjust it from 5.5 to 12.5 ;
if the default multiplier is 13 or higher , you can adjust it from 13 to 24 .
a7n8x series motherboards are all the some .
Thank you for using ASUS products and services!
