Lol, what idiots allowed this definition of public space to become law in the first place. Here locally it's the first couple feet of your yard is city property maintained by the resident; this entire yard up to the house crap is totally ridiculous.

QueBert weren't you just posting in a thread about the negative stereotypes of black people loving fried chicken?

QueBert is the Joseph McCarthy of racism, don't bother looking for any logic.

Depends if you have your shotgun near close enough so the cops know not to try to give you a ticket.

Anybody find it ironic that DC which is supposed to be the epicenter of our values and freedom is probably the most oppressive place in this country?

Can't own a gun, cant drink a beer on your porch, cant even park your car in your own god damned driveway.

I'd be sending the city a bill for maintaining it for them.

Some would like this to become a national trend. It would strictly be for your own good of course.

You don't actually own property anywhere. See what happens if you don't pay your property taxes (aka "rent") for a few years ;)

DC has been violating people's Civil Rights for 35 years by illegally banning hand guns (which the SCOTUS recently confirmed). What makes you think they wouldn't pull a stunt like this?

It's a Democratic Disneyland. Which is why the public schools are so great.

WTF, where are you suppose to park then? Not everybody has a garage or a driveway long enough that would allow for a car to park on only one half.

Also, if the first half of the driveway is owned by the city, then they better plow it, maintain it, and clean it.

...and pay the taxes on it. If I were paying the taxes on that portion, I'd tell them to get fucked. I'd also anchor the car down to prevent it from being towed, cause I'm just that kind of asshole.

Its written in the law that the property owner needs to maintain.

Any area between the property line and the building restriction line shall be considered as private property set aside and treated as public space under the care and maintenance of the property owner

I think that's the biggest piece of shit law I've ever read in my life.

NJ has Cluck U, and NJ doesn't suck like DC. People think NJ sucks, but those people have only been to the areas of NJ that border NY and Philly.

If these people aren't blocking the sidewalk, then the city is just trying to generate revenue from petty offenses. Not cool.

So, we could have a picnic in front of some Senator's DC residence, leave behind the mess, and it would be his or her responsibility to pick it all up! I like the concept a lot. In actuality, I don't think one would even get as far as spreading the blanket. It would be fun to test the waters though. :D
