Hey there folks, this is my first post here....just wondering if anybody could shed some light on this problem I've been having. First off, here are my system specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
SB Audigy Platinum
TDK VeloCD 4800B
TDK IndiDVD 840G
60 GB HD

So, here's the problem I've been having: sometimes, after completely powering down my system, neither of my optical drives will show up in the BIOS (or at all) when I power on again. Eventually, after powering off and then on SEVERAL times, they'll show up again.

I have the latest BIOS for my mobo, and I've updated the firmware on both drives. If I disconnect the power from the DVD drive, the CDR works flawlessly every time. I'm pretty sure that it's some kind of issue with the DVD drive, but I could be wrong. Please let me know if you have any idea what could be behind this...it's one of those problems that isn't really critical or anything, but it sure is irritating. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I've pretty much tried that already. I've double-checked the jumpers and position of the IDE cable (the end going to the master and the middle going to the slave), and the problem persists. Oh, and I've also tried using a different IDE cable, but still nothing.

One thing I always like to do when hardware is messing up is try a possible problem element in another computer or by itself. So you can try the DVD drive by itself, which we know the CDRW will work when it's solo. Also, try the DVD drive in another PC to see if you can reproduce the same results.
