Drivers

Hello.
I have just finished building this system. I have installed all the drivers included with the hardware, and completely updated my windows. However, I have had some issues that are hard to track down. So I want to make sure all my drivers are up to date. I visited the Asus A8N-SLI download site, and Leadtek 6600GT download site and updated all applicable drivers.

Am I missing anything? There seems to be a lot of bits-n-pieces on this system in Hardware Properties. Do I have to try and track down a web page for every chip and component and wire on this thing? Is there an easier way?

The most important things to have are the latest chipset drivers and GPU drivers for your system.

I just bookmark and make a folder called "Drivers" for all my hardware driver sites and check manually,with Windows OS it`s easier since it can let you know when updates are available, just like both my SystemSuite & anti-virus programs which also have auto updates so that`s easy.

Hmm lets see,you have,
chipset drivers
video card drivers,
soundcard drivers,
Windows updates,
AV software DAT updates(not hardware but important).

That`s the basics covered,I do have anti-spyware programs as well that I`ve to check manually but they are not updated more then once a week at most, and last but not least Nero( which is normally updated once a month).

So in all not too bad,you always get somebody posting in the forums when there are important updates released.

If you installed the drivers from the CDs that came with the hardware, it's probably not up to date.

Mem seems to have covered the essentials.

I usually check the companies that make the chipsets of the various hardware, rather than those who made the card. Example - Powercolor videocard, with an nVidia chipset. Powercolor may not update their driver site often, but nVidia does.
Just know though, sometimes manufacturers customize their hardware, so the "reference drivers," which are those from the chip manufacturers, might not work right. But I've found this to be rare anymore.
