My favorite one is the drivers who can't wait for the light at the corner and cut through the gas station/store lot to make the turn.

Close the gap.

But as a guy who usually tries to bypass the line and cut when on the other end of things, I'm always successful in doing so because there's always an idiot texting or putting on makeup or just daydreaming so that there is always a gap to be used. So trying to close the gap personally is a futile gesture as gaps will remain.

If it doesnt slow me down then I let 'em in. Usually I leave space for the guys cutting so that they dont have to cause a pissing match with someone else ahead of me. That will just slow EVERYONE down.

Also, the cutter is often the same person that will tailgate, so I would prefer to have them infront of me than behind me.

Depends ... if its a lane closed due to construction and clearly marked (for example) I close the gap and squeeze them out.

If its a situation where they made an honest mistake and are just stuck I usually let them in.

Depends on the situation. Is traffic merging from two lanes to one? Then screw the line jumpers.

Is this a situation where there is a line of people inexplicably driving in the left lane while the right lane is open? Then count me as a line jumper. If folks can pass you on the right then you are too far left.

If two lanes merge into one, the point of merging should be where the lanes merge themselves. You can't "line jump" unless you leave the lanes themselves. In an ideal situation, you just zipper in. But, most people are stupid and have a "me first" mentality and refuse to let someone in.

Here during rush hour we get lines for freeway exits. I UNDERSTAND when someone misses the very back of the line - maybe you had to get over a few lanes first and couldn't make the very back of the line (because holy shit there are lines that are VERY LONG). All the while, the rest of the freeway is going 60mph and the line to exit is going 0-5mph. It sucks balls.

If you miss the end of the line and just trying to make it in, I'll cut you some slack. If you're trying to just cut your way in after passing people in the line (IE: Go to the front of the line) I will not fucking let you in. I will let you hit my car before I let you in. So many people do this it is ridiculous. It's very easy to tell if someone is trying to do one or the other.

My favorite day will be when the cop is nearby and tickets them for this. Because you know the people that do that shit are too stupid to fucking remember in drivers ed that doing that shit is illegal.

I've got a great idea! A money making opportunity for the police force. Drivers could donate a small amount, say $5, and get one vote for where and when to station traffic police. Vote as many times as you like.

Yes, I can't stand this behavior! It's one thing if you have a pregnant wife...or maybe you are an out-of-towner...but that's hardly ever the case. It's usually some douche on their cell phone and never gives a courtesy wave when coming in.

I won't "close" the gap by getting dangerously close to the car in front of me, but I will likely not cause a delay in traffic behind me just to let someone.

I used the analogy once...if I am in line at a target checkout and there are 10 people in front of me...would it make sense for you to speed your cart in from nowhere and wedge it in at the front? NO!

We all cut, depends on the cutter. I will normally let them in unless they are senior douche. Need better poll options imo. If I see someone's flasher blinking I will let them in 99% of the time, unless they are retardly cutting through traffic.

This.

Putting on your flasher is a MUCH better indicator that you are not as a big of a douche as the rest.

That simple notion says "Hey guys, I need to get in, can you lend a hand?". I can tell if you want to get in, it doesn't take a blinker. I can tell a mile ahead and will begin closing the gap WAAAAY ahead of time.

^ Yes but on the other hand most people will speed up to block you off when they see your blinker.... idk why but pretty much everyone does this in Northern Virginia.

People around here like to leave ~17 car lengths between each other, and slowly roll off from a stop as if they might be slightly dead.

I take every opportunity to go around them. The catch is that I always get back into traffic without 'help' from anyone else.

Now, when some Slowass McDumbfuck tries to do the same maneuver, but is too fucking stupid to get back over, and instead blocks me...that's how motherfuckers end up dead.

Where do you live lol?

I hate when people stand in the middle of an intersection to turn. Or stop in the middle of traffic to switch lanes. I always end up getting tired of their slowness go around them then raise my arms out like WHAT? WAS THAT SO HARD? Go practice.

I do check and see if the driver is an old person in which case I don't do anything or cut ahead of them or something and make room for them.

Reminds me of the time I landed in Copenhagen. When the airline announced boarding everyone just squeezed up to the gate in a blob. I asked one of the people there, "why dont they line up, it may make things faster?" His reply was "why would I stand in the back when I can just go straight to the front?"
Fair enough, Ill shutup.

I've seen that behavior in a number of places. Apparently, the idea of lining up or queuing is only found in a few places.
