If I plan to run an x800 xt at about stock speed (I don't want to void my warranty), would I get any performance increase by using "custom" drivers like omega compared to the standard drivers off the ATI site?
I've never noticed much improvement with my 9800 pro when i have tried the omega drivers, perhaps a few 3dmarks but thats all really, i wouldn't bother anymore myself, especially if u r just leaving it at stock (unless those few xtra marks mean that much 2 u )
Use ATI's drivers ONLY! Why screw around with 3rd-party garbage? ATI has the expertise (after all they are the ones who know their product, right?) to write the best drivers, not Omega. I've never used them and I never will.
its not like Omega writes their own drivers or anything, they just mod them. they still use ATI drivers. i AM using Omega drivers, for OCing purposes, and they work just fine...furthermore, in the event that you are doing the 9800SE>9800PRO mod or 9800PRO>9800XT mod omega offers an option to configure the drivers/settings for the mods.
