drivers not installing? Does my graphics card...exist?

well, I recently purchased a new Acer TravelMate C310. In this sweet little convertable tablet PC is a GeForce Go 6200 w/ TurboCache. Unfortunately, the 77.72 or 77.76-beta drivers will not recognize it. However, the 72.50 drivers that came on the system CD install just fine.. quite confusing. Has anyone ever experienced this sort of thing before and does anyone know what I can do to get these drivers to install? thanks

Same thing on my new HP Lappie, the newest nVidia drivers wouldn't work correctly with my graphics chipset. I had to use the ones on my Restore DVD, dunno if there's a patch or a different set of drivers for the Go chipset but??? Just use the ones it came with, they're pretty good...

heads up, Radeon Catalyst drivers don't support all the Radeon 9K mobile series. you need mobile drivers, because the implementation of the technology can't coincide with the catalyst's advanced engineered software, which I think is pretty lame

check to see if your mobile laptop has special nVidia mobile drivers, otherwise I'd say nVidia is trying to copy ATI with what they did with the 9K series on laptops. conspiracy...

well I wouldn't think, since this laptop was just introduced at the beginning of July. However that may be my problem right there since there hasn't been a forceware update since its release.

If nVidia was so universal with their hardware, why can't some chips work properly with the new drivers? This is extremely pathetic of nVidia to do such a thing.

Well they DO sell "special" versions of their hardware to OEMs. I think it's quite possible that they're not expecting OEM buyers to update their graphics card drivers.

OEMs almost never want you to use drivers other than those that have been certified by them, and they think that is the case on notebooks even moreso than on desktops (helps reduce tech support issues, sometimes). so ati and them, as part of their deal, said that ATi will not be providing drivers. nvidia is probably doing the same.
